Where does your gaze linger when you need grounding?
Chelsey: Trees or rocks – specifically palm sized river pebbles – smooth and oblong shapes that feel weighty
What is your favorite scent memory?
Chelsey: First is my daughter as a newborn and indescribable scent that is forever my favorite, after that my parents made maple syrup as a hobby when I was growing up and we would be in the sugar shack as it’s called, late on a cold Vermont spring night - muddy, wet snow outside and inside the maple tree sap boiled over a fire and it’s steamed filling the room with sweet heavy air. A mix of mud, snow, fire and sugar.
What’s an unexpected scent you love?
Chelsey: Tomato leaves from my mom’s garden
What fragrance makes you feel most like yourself?
Chelsey: Lemon geranium leaves or maybe bergamot and vetiver
What sound quiets your mind instantly?
Chelsey: Quiet, no sounds – can only be achieved late at night or before 6am or with noise canceling headphones.
Is your mind quiet or loud?
Chelsey: Mostly loud, but I crave quiet
What’s a daily ritual that feels like a form of touch?
Chelsey: Sunshine in the morning is a must
When do you most crave softness?
Chelsey: All the time, I am a Taurus! Most necessary in the evening, in the snuggly post dinner relaxing hours at home.
What’s a flavor that feels like a memory?
Chelsey: I’m a pretty repetitive food person, so many flavors are taste memories. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a glass of cold milk, watermelon with lime and tajin, popcorn with butter, salt and Bragg’s nutritional yeast – there are so many!
What’s the most indulgent thing you’ve tasted lately?
Chelsey: One of my favorite all time dishes steamed artichoke with warm lemon butter. Butter is a life force.
